Notes About The Poem

The real reason for the season

Soon We Celebrate the Day

Soon We Celebrate the Day
By Franklin Price

Soon we celebrate the day
When Jesus Christ was born
Most likely not the actual
Historians are torn

No question that it happened
Doesn't really matter when
Christians among us all agree
He came to save us from our sin

Born in a stable
There was no room at the inn
Could not have been a humbler place
For our Savior to begin

The angels gathered 'round Him
You could hear their voices sing
The guiding star above the place
Brought the wise men kings

The shepherds left their flocks to come
They could not stay away
Driven to bear witness
To the Christ child born that day

There's much more to His story
On the cross, earth's life would end
To pave our way to heaven
Christ took with him our sin

If we have faith that's how it happened,
Believe that's the way it went,
We will meet Him at the right hand,
Of God, where he was sent
