Sonnet For the End
Sonnet for the End
David Lustrup 2021
the wheels keep spinning
black and white taxi backseat
the lights go by
my life goes by
waves of city lights fly , the smell of the street
woe and regret
smoke in the air, full moon outside
long shadows on wet streets
this city sings a slow song of death
the night air forlorn with sorrow
its almost over
the curtains about to drop
and there was no show.
a river of tears flowing in my sewer of dreams
failure to launch, failure to fly
entire life about getting by
crumb by crumb i inch from birth to death
was this my great purpose?
i get lost in fantasies
they keep me distracted in thier dark embrace
a tree swaying in the dark night air
the sound of the wind rushing through its leaves
sings a song of dispair
where is the sunlight
where is the dawn?
it's too late
i see tears from my mothers eyes
i failed =(
this movie will never be anything but black and white
