Songs That I Sing
I'm a writer, not a fighter
sometimes I like to pull an all niter,
getting lost within thoughts in my head
I'm a man, with a plan
who's doing all that he can,
that you can trust by his word once it's said
These old songs that I sing, are now just a fading memory
Of the days when you loved to hear me play
But them ole' tears will start to stream
with those beautiful notes and melodies
knowing you won't hear a single word that I say
I'm strummer, a drummer
a son who loves his mother,
and I still love my father though he's dead
I'm a dreamer, a singer
a no town in between'er
with a heart that's been broke and then bled
These old songs that I sing, are now just a fading memory
Of the days when you loved to hear me play
But them ole' tears will start to stream
with those beautiful notes and melodies
knowing you won't hear a single word that I say
I'm a reader, a leader
an eternal life seeker,
thanking God for every second of life before bed
I'm a tryer, a cryer
a lost love for lifer
who is drowning in the tears that he's shed
These old songs that I sing, are now just a fading memory
Of the days when you loved to hear me play
But them ole' tears will start to stream
with those beautiful notes and melodies
knowing you won't hear a single word that I say
