Song For the Season

In the subtle quiet rush
the trees and nature blend in a dismal hush,
chilled and silenced by the absence of the wind,
no messages to read or send.
Steely grays loom overhead
 spring growth now consumed unfed
there in the background hiding in the brush
 feathered creatures whistle softly thrush
as comes the seasonal winter song
holidays at rest, all said and done
