Song For Charlie
Listen to poem:
I heard the news today
about the killing of a young man.
He was just sitting there with a microphone
and just like that he was gone.
I heard a gunshot in the air
and saw up close the screaming crowd,
a peaceful man armed with words I saw
but no words are worth dying for.
All this man ever asked was
prove me wrong and change my mind,
but they couldn’t do it, Charlie,
and that’s the power you leave behind.
The media call it hate speech
but all it is it’s free speech they hate.
They say “we didn’t pull the trigger on you, son”
but they sure as hell loaded the gun!
They silenced Charlie Kirk
the only way they knew how.
They shot him dead
for all the things he said
but all he spoke was the truth
across this land to our youth.
All Charlie ever wanted was to debate
and they killed him to feed their hate.
They snatched his life from his family
to silence his voice in you and me.
But they never will…
You loved God, Charlie,
and He loved you.
You loved your kids and wife
and they love you.
You loved your country
and your country loves you!
