Somewhere Over the Landfill

Mountains of trash piled high in the air The stench of rot from everywhere Precious topsoil stripped away To make room for more garbage The amount grows larger day by day So what do we do when the landfill gets full Why then we build houses or even a school Somewhere over the landfill New homes will rise They will have nice yards and blue skies overhead But it's the ground underneath that I would dread Somewhere over the landfill The skies are blue and someday There will be houses over it too

I enjoyed this light rhyme. (Landfills would have created rich topsoil if not for plastics. Recycling is critical.)

Good morning Hannah, I'm glad to see you enjoyed the poem. And yes landfills would have created rich topsoil unfortunately plastic doesn't play well with it. Thank you again for your visit and your kind comments have a wonderful day.
