Sometimes I'M Afraid
The boy said,"Grandpa, sometimes I'm afraid.
Does that mean that I'll be less of a man?"
The old man smiled, said,"Son, we have all prayed
To be without fear as much as we can."
"But this old world can be a scary place,
And fear warns us when real danger is near.
Fear has a partner in this human race,
It is called courage, and that we hold dear."
"Now courage rests when there's nothing to fear,
Then it comes alive when we become scared.
It roars to the front and dries the tear,
And takes charge of the day with all teeth bared."
"Do not fret over being afraid, Son.
Courage will rule when it's all said and done."
