Sometimes, He Said, In the Garden
Everyone needs a little humour
Sometimes, he said....
Swinging from his vine
You didn't have to be so kind
As I handed him, a tangerine
But what does it mean and
What is this green, spot?
Here, let me see; back in his tree
Laughing at the world; laughing as
He handed me this pearl....
Sometimes, he said, as he lifted his head
And he let out, a certain roar
Why, I haven't heard that, before?
While as I opened my palm....
His chatter became calm and his eyes
Grew wide; swinging from his vine
You didn't have to be, so blind
And why do you chide?
But I wanted to be kind and
Give you back gold in exchange for
Your pearl....But what does it mean
And what is this green, dust?
Here, let me see; back in his tree
Staring at me, with a knowing simper
I could tell, that he was bathing, his temper
Sometimes, he said....
