Sometimes

Days blur together endlessly
one not different from another.
Sameness robs us of joy and fun
heat and sound now do us smother.

Yet the break we watch for comes
happy surprises break the heat wave.
Children heading back to school now
time can now be cherished and saved.

Black and orange decorations seen
Jack-o-lanterns made from pumpkins.
Candy, shelves and shelves from to choose
to give the ghosts, queens, and phantoms.

Care not what others say
this holiday is for yummy fun.
Watch the childrens face light up
as from house to house they run.
