Someday

We think we know … but we don’t

We think we understand … but we can’t

So, we react to what we 'think' they're thinking

But, we probably get it wrong … or at least confused

We live, we love, we even laugh

Our lives intersect, but no longer intertwine

We talk, but we don’t yet dare communicate

We no longer share our inner thoughts …

Our hopes and our hurts …

Our dreams and our doubts …

Our reasons for rejoicing and our reasons for regretting

But someday we will ...

… Someday…

… Even if not today.

And when that Someday does arrives, and it most assuredly will

We’ll both discover …

We’re even stronger …

More in love …

More deeply connected…

Than we ever could have been before that earlier ‘Someday’ changed our lives.

…Someday!

What a blessing we have in PoetrySoup. A place to come to write and read and make new friends along the ink trail. I am wishing you a day full of inspiration. I enjoyed reading your poetry today and hope to read many more written by you in the future John. Love, Carol
