Some Nights

A spider swings by single thread Back and forth within my head To the threads the questions stick Answers there, which one to pick Ghostly fingers come and play At my thoughts they pluck away The Ravens eye it blinks of blood I see no light from where I'm stood Within the web sit truth and lies Complexed mesh of lows and highs Shadows dark and take control Black my heart and tar my soul This night a dark and arid place Where iced tears run an ever pace Where sins prick and haunt me so Where the bile boils to overflow Once the warrior am now in pieces Guilt and shame and war still polices Am the jigsaw with a part missing Endless hours of purgatory kissing Medals, honours fill the drawer The Ravens eye asks what for.

A very powerful write...sends shivers, haunting imagery, such a dark and lonely place painted...wonderfully portrayed...Allie

The last six lines are very impressive...I can feel the pain that the warrior that has post traumatic syndrome must feel..Great write and a very good topic..Sara

This poem is very touching,it feels so real,so hard,so deep...the shame ,the guilt, and the honour..Sometimes we blame ourselves too much, for things we couldn't control and these thoughts shatter our hearts..heartfelt poem and those iced tears..the spider's web..We just have to free Oursleves sometimes of all the haunting days and feel the Sun again..good poem Daniel..indeed..Charma

Wow, Daniel! Haunting thoughts filled this troubled former warrior's head. Kept thinking of Edgar Allen Poe, but your style is definitely unique. Awesome write withe the complex "mesh of lows and highs" in the spider's web! Love, Carolyn
