Some Days Are Like This
There are days when I feel a heaviness, struggle to rise, go down low
As if worn out, my mind bends itself twisted and I move real slow
Even my shadow feels alone and forlorn in my abandoned shape
Hiding my smile inside a crack because my heart is agape
It might last a day or spiral down and around for three nights
Someone's words must have hurt, some devils' little spites
I force a walk along a wooded path or connect to the ocean shore
Where I listen for kindness, a love from above, a truth that is more
Then I bake some cookies, some sweet goodness to tickle my tummy
I'll find my bruised heart starts to open like flowers when it's sunny
Those days come, I know, so I let myself go with the sad flow
It won't last long if I allow my inner nature to glow
