Solicitude
Remember the frigid december,
coldness, draught and damp.
She waited until september,
that tawdry promiscuous tramp.
Gone by day and on display,
street corners, pimps and thugs.
Burning ashes in a cigarette tray,
and abusing all sorts of drugs.
On the fill of each white pill,
ecstasy, shivers and pleasure.
My heart beats for her still,
she remains a buried treasure.
Part of me that wants to see,
lies, hopelessness and pain.
I keep that fondest memory,
around my neck, on a chain.
Shortened tears as I cover ears,
trickery, knavery, and blame.
I push aside all those fears,
blowing out her hateful flame.
If she dies in all her lies,
vengeful, fatigued and lost.
Her mind and body I despise,
I still must guard at any cost.
