Soldier's Thoughts

Left behind my woman
Left behind my home
Left behind my children
Gone to fight and roam

In a war I don't believe
Fightin' in a fruitless war
Answer this my friend
What am I fightin' for?

Tell me it's for freedom
Tell me it's for lust
Tell me things I don't believe
Just who can I trust?

Hard to trust anyone
Who kills their own brethren
Keep tellin' myself I'll get back
Time and time again

Don't know when I'll return
Don't know If I can
All I know is that this war
Has changed every man

Fathers, sons, and brothers
All changed to the last
I was told by a friend
That this would end fast

Three years I've been roamin'
For my life I do fend
Don't see light, I don't see closure
When will this war end?

Hi Kyle So very true sigh. But, People need to feel the truth and lyrics is one of the best avenues for that. So, Keep on strumming my friend and make a difference in people's hearts. May this war be over in GOD speed....Take care Love Light Truth Patricia

this was a heart warming poem. no one wants war. most of the wars could stopped before they even get started. but once they do start, it is not an easy thing to get out of. but keep the hope, and telling the truth about this whole thing.
