Soldier Boy
Soldier boy, soldier boy
You fell beneath the flag,
With a picture of your mum and dad
Hidden in your bag.
Across the battlefield you went
You felt so grown up then,
But elation turned to horror
As the bullets hit the men.
Then it came for you
It spun you like a top,
The searing pain, confusion,
You wished that it would stop.
Soldier boy, soldier boy
You fell beneath the flag.
The light dimming in your eyes,
As you fumbled in your bag.
As you were carried in
The stretcher bearers cried,
That picture of your mum and dad,
You held it, as you died.
