Solace

I find solace in the blade, Solace no human touch can provide. Polished to gleaming, cold and deadly. Sharpened to a razor, no longer simply a blade, But a vessel for my darkness, My desires. I find solace in the cloak, Solace no human touch can provide. Worn to soft, dark and threadbare. Fit to me, no longer simply a cloak, But the costume for myself, My disguise. I find solace in the chains, Solace no human touch can provide. Trap to weapon, frozen and choking. Shining in the night, no longer simply chains, But the trap for attackers, My weapon. I find solace in the darkness, Solace no human touch can provide. Gentle to me, dark and welcoming, Hiding me, no longer simply darkness, But the paths I walk, My journeys. My path, hidden from others. The dark one, stalking through the night. For I am the monster in your head, The demon’s friend. I walk the path of shadow, So that you will not have to.
