Soil is life

“The future may see the exhaust of mines dug deep into Earth’s core. But, the soil has to keep producing food for the ever growing Earth’s population.” - quote by A.A.Jarilov, Soil-Scientist --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Supporting life on Earth Nourishing life of all kinds She breathes green She has life cycle She is a living being With a definite genesis She evolves differently Adapting to changing climate Redesigns herself for organisms She balances life cycle Just as in Land & Atmosphere She has minerals, matter, Salts and water, gases and Moisture like in air, but It varies in concentration She needs rain She needs wells, rivers, seas & oceans She needs air She breathes She needs clean air to breathe She needs energy, Energy from the Sun & Moon rays Filtered through plants feet Unfiltered by cement, Tiles, or beautiful tar carpets She is not Sand, Silt and Clay, Her health is seen through Munsell’s Chroma, Value & Hue None but only the Human footprints Has smudged her precious Shade Earth is not an industry Soil is not a factory Soil provides to live, Soil is Life Without soil - Earth is death happy

Very interesting Thriveni. I don't know too much of the science of soil, but it must be fascinating. I do know that there are a LOT of things living in there, and I suppose they have some complex interdependencies. From this poem, I see it's a critical part of the biosphere.

We take so much for granted and soil is no exception, what happens when the soil becomes toxic, it would be the end of humanity. Enjoy your weekend Thriveni. Tom
