Soft Soul

I have a soft soul
God, do I have a soft soul
A soul that craves a soft touch
A soul that craves warmth & safety
A soul that craves love

but

I have a fortress for a heart
and a maze as a mind
Forever protecting the soul inside
Forever keeping me from my deepest desires

I have a lonely soul
One that my mind doesn't allow a soft touch
in fear that it'll one day turn rough
One that isn't allowed love
as my heart is too tough

I am my own worst enemy
with a soul so protected

It has hurt me.
