Sobriety: My Long Lost Friend

She used to be my only friend Every day she would mend. Mend my soul back together Ever helping me fair the weather. Weather I was sick or well She would help me through my hell. Hell and back through this life Repairing me after the strife. Strife that lingered at my door Always wanting, wanting more. More of me she would take More and more every day. Days went by, passed in weeks I would wander, her I’d seek. Seek the comfort she would send Until her flow came to an end. I thought that alcohol was my only friend Until I sought an alternate end.

Monique, I can relate with this one. I spent years befriending and loving alcohol. Like you stated, I myself found an alternate route. Great job!!!
