Sober

Why can’t we just be sober? drink from the wine of love, leave without giving what you’ve owed her. Why can’t we just be sober? sip from the glass of pestilence, delinquent’s smile while you empty the holster. Why can’t we just be sober? gulp from the goblet of power, oppress the innocent to become the boaster. Why can’t we just be sober? Or honest with ourselves about the monster. The soul is a drunkard, always thirsty in it’s bunker.
