You should have known That I'd be there for you I've been there since the beginning And has never ceased to be true I've helped you through Many a storm When you were cold and shivering My faith kept you warm I've carried you On my already aching back I've used my body To shield you against attack I cried tears So you wouldn't have to I tried my best To keep pain away from you I put myself in front Of any pain that came your way So you would survive To see another day You may not have realized That all of this was going on But I'll continue to endure your pain Until I am gone I did all of this Out of love you see And never asked For it to be returned to me
