So I Sing

Everything around me still looks the same
But the air has lost all feeling
As I walk and wonder does not every heart
Hear this song that I sing?
You poured my glass, full
I drank your wine within
And now the desire inside of me
Fills me to the brim
So I sing in notes of question
Faded denim and photographs
Recalling nights nose to nose
When you made me laugh
And I drag a ladder to the edge of the world
To the cloud where stars choose to leap
And I search for the answers there
As I peer down to those who sleep
Your worries will one day cease
When you realize I am not going to leave
But there is still the future
For me to prove and gain reprieve
So I sing in notes of question
Wondering if your heart hears my song
Because it’s you who I’ve been singing to
Now and all along
