Smoke Signals
I am a nobody,
With nowhere to go,
and aimless vessel.
Taught with steam,
no release in sight.
Raw emotionally,
A once lit cigarette,
Now a bent and burnt butt.
Crushed among ashes,
Snuffed out flame.
My head spinning,
Nose dive, spiraling.
Crashing down around me.
Again, into an ash pit
To finish smoldering.
Sending smoke signals,
Whispy remnants rise,
Reminders of what was alive.
A spark, caught fire, burned hot
Breathed me in then put me out.
A dream of release,
Delivered by smoke,
Free from this perpetual pain.
Lifted up to freedom,
Smoke carries me away.
Hear me.
