Smiling Down On Me
After slumbering
we awoke slowly
our bodies lumbering,
but soon you were lovingly
smiling down on me.
Such a heavenly sight
you are in the morning
that my heart takes flight
it's no longer mourning
but beating its wings with yours.
Your awesome eyes
peer into my soul,
after too many goodbyes
being together now is our goal
and our source of joy.
I can scarcely express
through word or voice
how richly you bless
with love as your choice,
my life in myriad of ways.
Please continue
smiling down on me
as only you can do
and I promise, you'll see,
to always be smiling up at you.
