Notes About The Poem

Bizesize Contest no.142 Poetry Contest

4/29/26

Smile through the pain

I've chosen to smile through the pain
dance and twirl in the rain
writing through my grief
brings me sweet relief
showing kindness and grace
makes my world a better place

I've sat on that side of the seesaw; it's my favorite side. Sometimes, it seems we must be flipped to the other seat for reasons we must faithfully accept to seek a new peak and retreat back to joy's seat. Lately, I haven't wanted one blip to flip, I feel sure I still have a splinter from my last go round! I'm in a silly mood. Serious face; this is seriously attitude grace, a blessed place to land your stance and you wrote it beautifully. AMEN and amen, a joy to read

Emotions aren’t always clear cut, aren’t always one or another but that bittersweet mix, which helps us be effective (though we didn’t ask for the pain) Interestingly, I read yesterday a quote from Chaim Potok: …”So life would be precious, Asher. Something that is yours forever is never precious.” ..so God gets our attention and we have hope. ((Hugs))

Thanks, Kim. I really like that quote! I am coming up on the year anniversary of my son's death and I am feeling a lot, and therefore, writing a lot. I am finding there is more hope and beauty in my writing than pain and grief, although it is still there.
