Smile Daffodil Smile

overshadowed by the trees,
there was a daffodil moving to the breeze,
smiling at every passerby,
yearning to be with the sun in the sky,

the sun whispering all the while,
smile daffodil smile
smile daffodil smile

but soon it became dark and scary,
tiny Lil daffodil grew wary,
besieged by weeds,
Lil daffodil fell prey to others' deeds

scared Lil daffodil cried for a while,
how do i smile,
how do i smile.

then it felt a drop of cool,
tiny transparent beings dancing like fools,
they bore a message from the sun,
to wash away the pain Lil daffodil had borne.

Lil daffodil you've been sad for a while,
but don't give up, its what they call life,
smile daffodil smile,
smile daffodil smile.

When I welcomed you to PoetrySoup I hoped that you would continue your writing and share it with us. Today I am asking you to please continue your poetry writing. Just write what is in your heart as that is where the best poetry comes from. I will stop back soon and hope to be able to read some new poetry from you at that time Amrita. Love, Carol
