Slowly Gone

Words, crashing drum beat of life
millions upon millions flow
no recession nor ebb
Tapping, insistent dissolving
hiss and hum without end
from child, grown, and old
now, silence around the bed
Prelude oh prelude sinking
silent, waiting, listening
There are children outside
cymbals crashing,
But here, no song no farewell
but a beat still, slowly
Slowly, gone
