Sleeve

Standing here with my heart on my sleeve
Trying to do no wrong
It doesn't matter what you believe
The day's they seem so long
I'm reaching for that something I just can't see
Time and time again it's gone wrong
Dreaming of what used to be
Brain fumbling for the right word
Love is something that comes and there it goes
Remembering what you heard
Time really shows
Thinking love never has a chance to grow
Silenced by the slamming door
Didn't even get to know
Was it a fling or something more
Time for me to look beyond what all hearts desire
Away from these long cold nights
Warming myself by the morning fire
Far away from the city lights
As the stars start fading from the sky
Which way shall I go now to find that road home
There is no reason to cry
I no longer wish to roam
Just can't find my way
Eyes searching for some distant light
Keep hoping and then just maybe some day
The way I choose will be right
And start leading me home
away from these lonely times
Where I'll no longer need to roam
Then I can sit and ponder these painful rhymes
