Sleepless
Sleepless resting in my bed
Softly dropped pillow under head
Tossing, turning, upside down
Eyes wide open, brow in frown
Watching time, alarm is set
How many hours is any bet
Hearing noises, banging door
Getting up to pace the floor
Drink of water, lights are out
Rooms so quiet yet want to shout
Eyes are tired, heavy and tight
Sleepless nights are just not right.
Up and down those eye lids go
So many hours, no one to know
Early morning drawing near
Sleep is something held so dear.
