Sleep Forever and Do Not Wake

Your soft, lilting lullaby
I struggle and fail to stay alert
Drooping eyelids are hard to fight
Close them, now, and sleep
"Do not wake from my spell" it whispers.
"Sleep for me, my young soul" it hisses
Dreams and nightmares become one
How I long to awaken once more
And to be free of the trickster

Not exactly sure about this one. It seemed at first a Mother's lulaby through the eyes of a baby but then I don't know. Keep the creative pen flowing. Sara

I like how at first it has the calm soothing touch of a mother's lullaby to a child but in the end it seems the trickster did it to lull its prey into the spell where dreams and nightmares become one. If I had to guess I'd say the trickster would be the one preventing you from awakening to the subject matter in my poem that helped renew your faith. ultimately its your faith that will awaken you but it will definitely take time and the trickster doesn't like feeling threatened.
