Sleep

I'm surrounded by darkness trapped in thought,
Not a single sound but the beat of my heart,
My mind starts to wonder where could I be,
How is it so dark that I can not see,
Why can't I get up and run away,
My legs don't work but I'm in no pain,
I start to scream and cry for help,
But no one comes I'm all by myself,
I must be dead is all I can think,
And all of a sudden my eyes start to blink,
The whole time I was afraid for my life,
I was asleep in my bed in the middle of night.

Perhaps a wish to be afraid in the unconscious mind with a view to securing support from some dear and near one ... whatever, I enjoyed reading it ...

Lovely rhyming piece, Daniel - quite far from my "blissful" perception of the land of slumber...

Thank you Michael, glad you enjoyed it. Sleep can be a tricky thing some times good some times scary but always needed.
