Sleep

I wanted to take a nap. Dreams covered in sap. I wish there was a carpet under the rug. I wish there was something, but not a bug. I wanted to wake up to breakfast. But there is such a thing as patience, and nothing can last. I could have eaten the carpet slug. Which came out of the drain despite the plug. I wanted to wake up in the hospital today. Where there are no instruments to play. Where a harmonica isn’t following me around. On the ground. I wanted to wake up in the grassy field. Where no one yields. Even when I’m collapsed on the ground. That’s what they found. I wanted to take a nap that day. But the music wanted to play. I ran outside to get some sleep. For once, no one made a peep. A nap, one day, one hundred days. Nothing to graze. Not even a bug or a slug. The rolled up rug will keep you snug.
