Six-Word Couplet Series

Valentine Humbug
Home all alone.
Sit and groan.

In a St. Patrick’s Day Pinch
Wore no green
*Pinch felt mean.

Easter’s Glad Tidings for Lambs
Forget the lamb.
Let’s eat ham.

Labor Day’s for ALL?
No work off
while bankers scoff

The Halloween Boogie
It’s no mask.
Please don’t ask!

The Thanksgiving Whine
Turkey got burned.
I got spurned.

Christmas Blues
Had a rift. . .
Where’s my gift?

Sept. 24, 2018 for Mark Toney's Six-Word Couplet Series Poetry Contest
* One person mentioned they did not understand the Pinch in the second verse. For some reason, in the United States there exists a strange custom that if one's friend is not wearing green on St. Patrick's Day, you may pinch him!

Congratulations on your third-place win, Andrea! I've been pinched a few times myself, and I've also been the victim of Punch Buggy too! Thank you for making the contest a success :)

Very cleverly written Andrea. I like the Halloween and Christmas ones best. I don't have a lot of time anymore I'm afraid and I apologize for not visiting more often. I work as a computer service technician and spend hours a day driving all over Central Florida. I miss driving the boats at Disney but now it's easier to pay the bills. It's been wonderful visiting you. Be well.
