Sitting By the River

Sitting by the river, looking up stream, I see ducks in the water floating gracefully. Floating like a leaf on the wings of a gentle breeze, easing along and carefree. My mind floats away to old places as I see the times and spaces of a life once lived, where happiness was. A beautiful, blue eyed, red haired girl, she was there by my side with her hand in mine....walking. Pretty as the morning sun coming up over a snow covered world, her beauty captured my eye. I thought within myself and wondered why she loved........me, I didnt think anyone could but she for a time and it was good, a love I never knew before. But now the door is closed and my love remains and her love goes to another. I dont think love will be found agan, losing her I lost again and I am tired of losing everytime so I will live alone.....and wonder. Will love ever come again, will I want it, will I care, or will I walk away or will I ask myself...when?? where?? why?? and how? .........sitting by the river.
