Sit Down Like Matisse

SIT DOWN LIKE MATISSE

Sit down like Matisse
with coloured paper and scissors
and cut a red Eastern poppy -
papaver orientale!

Stare at goldfish in a bowl,
consider your life in art;
what it's done for your soul:
luxe, calme et volupte.

I like this idea, but would like it much better if I could understand the last lines. Congrats on the selection. Dave

Loved both poems for their originality and imagery - the first verse, in particular of 'Sit down like Matisse' - my favourite artist!
