Sisters In Arms
Sisters in Arms
You don’t have to like me
And respect, like trust is earned.
Not everyone likes everyone
Is something that i’ve learned
You can talk behind my back
If it makes you feel good
Sneer at things i do and say
While on your lips judging smile play
But in my hardened shoes
I’d like to see you walk a mile
You’ve no idea the life i’ve lived
Or the cuts my heart has felt
No clue the hand life’s dealt
To me these same things you could say
And you would surely be right
The difference is i don’t treat you
As though you were beneath my sight
I don’t laugh at you and say those things
That make you cry at night
Not righteous is my heart or soul
I’ve made my own mistakes
At times i’ve hit the gas
When i should have hit the breaks
But when i see the hurt and pain
You’ve felt throughout your life
My eyes tear up and my heart weeps
To know of all that strife
I don’t look down on you
Or pretend i have the right to judge
And when you need someone to talk
I’ll give a gentle nudge
But for now i’ll forgive
I know you’re hurting too
I won’t pretend to know the hand
That life has dealt to you
