Sisters
A sister is as close
As Mother and Dad.
They share all our memories,
Of the first home we had.
Laughing, and playing house,
Or just going to school-
Ball games, sharing chores,
Or at times disobeying the rules.
New clothes that Mama made,
And quilts on cold winter nights.
Homemade soup and tea cakes,
And lessons by the old lamp light.
Grandma visiting, our sleeping
On quilts laid down on the floor,
Preacher’s coming for Sunday dinners,
And eating till we thought there
Would be no more.
A sister is so special,
You treasure each one.
They are a part of you, always,
Till your time on earth is done.
