Sister

A tiny shadow in the cold,
A fragile story yet untold,
I brought you in from out the night,
And held you close to make things right.

I named you Sister, sweet and small,
Not knowing you would change it all.
With gentle purrs and trusting eyes,
You took me by complete surprise.

From frightened stray to constant cheer,
I find my comfort with you near.
A little shadow by my side,
In whom I gladly now confide.

They say I saved you, pulled you through,
But Sister, you have saved me too.
A rescue kitten in the end,
Became my greatest, dearest friend.
