Siren Song
As the sun sinks deep in the west and darkness
Descends to cover and change the landscape ,
The sea grows calm like a mirror of glass,
And silence fills the air like a curtain drape.
A song can be heard low and sweet,
Quiet in its inception and slowly rising to meet,
The silence of the night and for ears to hear,
Those that do are smitten from the first,
Filling the senses with a longing like thirst,
To reach out and touch the songs source,
As if in a mystical trance led by unseen force.
An uncontrollable urge to seek the singers of the song,
Whales that hear reply in kind their voices long,
Deep within the furthest ocean they swim ,
Creatures blessed with longevity and fin.
The Siren song draws love lorn in
Forever to dwell within the watery depths,
Drawn by the beauty of mer kind.
And their eerie,haunting song enshrined.
