Sins of the Father

My one and only son I love I just want you to know No matter what you think of me This is how it goes Your mother and I, Lord bless her We started out in love We had a sacred union Joined by God above Life for us was precious We lived the family way She trusted and endeared me But then I began to stray Lost in a world of abandon Tempted by ways of lust She was the glue of the family I was the one not to trust Sin was the song of the siren I was the ship on the sea A serpent wrapped around me And whispered softly to me "You know it's me you desire Forget the things that you've known Come with me to my heaven And you'll be the king on my throne" My mind was numbed by the pleasure My soul was trapped within me I knew I stood in the fire Yet I danced in the chance to be free But fires eventually fade And smoke will clear with the wind Leaving you standing there naked Exposed by the way that you sinned So don't be lead by temptation Stay with the one that you love 'Cause sin has the wings of a raven But love has the wings of a dove. Rockman :-)

Rockman, what an amazing poem, I hope you're close to your son now and that he heeds your words.

Great poem and wonderful concluding stanza, saturated with truth. Reminds me of Sarah McLachlan's song "Fallen" ... "I got caught up in all their was to offer, and the cost was so much more than I could bear." I enjoyed reading this poem tonight.

rockman, that was so neat how you compared sin to wings of a raven and love to the dove. A very good poem on the dangers of temptation. WAs this for playing with fire contest? also, thanks for the comments on my tribute to the sounds of Blue!
