Single Lane High Way

early this morning
below snowy clouds
i saw a solo Canadian
goose not flying
south but north

perhaps he forgot
to pack something
in his bag for surely
being an old snow
bird he wants warmth

more then anything
but then perhaps not
for where is the
warmth of his
life long life

sometimes i wish i could fly south for the winter...birds are pretty intelligent to leave before the bitter cold comes...i wonder why he hasn't left...perhaps he is not well enough to make the journey... good write!

Also about the geese; romantically as it sounds they mate for life. This is true, but just like us "until death do us part"; so they do stay together but when one of the other dies they find another; as I think should be.

Thank you Sandra, but actually what I grew up on about migrations were either a lie or have since changed. Since people have been feeding birds during the winter, some tend not to leave as long as they have food. I also found while winter hiking that there are a lot of robins in the backwoods. So no true sign of spring lol.
