Single and Sleepless

Do not sleep yet
For the children are awake
Have them write for you
See what a story they make

A nightly journal
Thoughts they will share
Look deep in their words
Something is there

Keep me at a distance
For I am yet another book
Of your your fabulous words
All the time you took

Kiss, hug, and hold them
Make it a daily routine
It is all they will remember
In this world, now, so mean

Then you may sleep in a field of lilacs...
