Singer, Not The Song
With a few exceptions
across the land
the voice is the face
of any rock 'n' roll band
without Janis Joplin
who remembers
Big Brother and the Holding Company
and the names of its members
for no matter the genre
when listening to a song
it's not the instrumentalists
but the singer you focus on
and today when songwriting contests are judged
it's human nature to hear that on which songs are hung
(arrangement instrumentation performance production)
and not hear the lyric or melody being sung
