Since Then

A knock on the door,
Brings it all back
Pain in my tears,
Is all that remains
Words burn through
My memories, of “what ifs”
A sea of agony sways back in
Pushing me, in a black whirlpool
What did I say or do
Why are you there, and not here
How was I to know,
That one word, would bring down my world
My complete demise, nothing has been the same
Not the days, or the seasons
Who am I now, surviving day by day
Who have I been?
A woman, taking with her, pain
In her eyes and smile
The nights cry for my despair,
Living in lies, in yesterday’s laughters.
