Simple Tree
POEM " SIMPLE TREE " by martin gedge
Captured by the light I stand alone to face the wind
each branch to beat my gracious heart with roots all tightly in
of every breath I'm taking here beneath the moon and star
over green of fields they lay these eyes have traveled far
the many of the coats I wear as season change with age
the many books that bare my soul are written on my page
the rain has fed my soiled girth the worth of which I grow
and storms beyond the godly norms have tossed me to and fro
but nature's finest pleasure sweet as treasure in thy name
to gloat the sky oh wondrous eye to face the sunny flame
and in my shade for those who've laid I offered you my sleep
a sheltered place to rest in grace to hold you in my keep
a brilliant bond that lingers on for all the world to see
to often lead with every seed I am a simple tree....
