Silver-Grey

At the dimming of the day
unfriended by his fire he stands,
a warrior of the wasteland,
body crippled by the elements' cruel hand.
Wind-burnt and swept his hair is silver-grey;
a mix of black and white, and every cast between,
till warrior and wasteland are the same.
His gaze fastens on the landscape
in winter light's slow fade,
lakes and mountains stained that silver shade.

Life, time, and nature takes it's toll, on man.. and the landscape, together...in full circle. The undercurrent here is melancholy, but wonderfully written. ~ Sincerely, Carrie

This is charming, Keith. Wonderful use of metaphors and imagery to create this pictorial scene. What's really striking is that the rhyme blends in with the landscape, and doesn't hinder nor obstruct the flow. Often I feel as though your writings are akin to poetical dialogues. Actually a very nice talent to have. It makes the reader feel more relaxed and receptive. Wishing you and yours the best...God bless! Love, Mikki

"a mix of black and white, and every cast between" such great description. You have such a way with words. As always, a pleasure to read! Nathaniel
