Silently Secretly To Soccer Game
Some forty or so years ago I told a lie
received a cousins wedding invite
in my early teens so didn’t want to go
being a Saturday soccer day too right
So few days before caught a cold
told my parents wedding couldn’t go
so day came parents went to wedding
I stay in bed kidding my nose to blow
Aunt was in house to look after me
but also the dog and cat as well
I got up hour before kick off time
lay pillows up centre bed so swell
Silently secretly crept out back door
took car to game made it in time
after game silently secretly crept in
back into bed no one knows my crime
Early evening decide to get up
aunt asks how do you feel?
feel better now thanks I say
now I’m up feel real deal
Parents come back later none wiser
got off with it feel well done
by the way the game was good
my team also win two - one!
