Silent World
It was so silent that I heard a rainbow,
stretch over the cloudless sky,
boasting of its brilliance to the waking earth.
It was so peaceful that I sensed the cold snow,
coming to its death on the first day of spring,
like stars fading into a misty morning sky.
It was so still that I felt dusk falling,
swallowing late afternoon,
into its shadowy darkness.
It was so calm that I knew the first rains
had begun to shed their tears,
on the dark and silent world.
