Silent Screams

Abuse of the elderly is an ugly word
But it needs to be said aloud
It usually affects almost everyone
From the most humble to the proud.

Think of the recipient
And what they must go through
Bearing that hidden responsibility
And then treated like a fool.

They must be afraid of everything
Because they're afraid of you
Never knowing when it'll happen
Makes their unhappiness come true.

And maybe the day will come
When it'll be the other way around
When you will be kept silent
Because your screams will make no sound.
