Silent Night

A mother and daughter In the alley tonight Huddle by a trash can That offers them light It renders them heat As they try to stay warm With no place to go In the cold winter storm The daughter only five With no Santa this year But she doesn't complain As she sheds just one tear The shelters are full On this night, Christmas Eve Her father, abusive And forced them to leave Like the Babe in the manger With no room at the Inn There's no one who cared enough To let them come in They didn't speak a word As the held each other tight Alone in the snow On this silent night
